Ok, well technically this is the second trip that Baby Ni has taken since technical Baby Ni went to Israel when he/she was 3 weeks. But since this is the first trip that i know of Baby Ni then Kroea is officially Baby Ni's first country visit.
It's been an interesting trip so far and traveling pregnant is much different. Every decision i make is based on Baby Ni and keeping her healthy. My original goal was to not tell my collegues and that was blown out the window on day 1. The first day we had a formal dinner with our new potential team mates and right away the wine gets served. No problem. I will take some and not drink it. Then the Chinese Rice WIne comes out and the Koreans explain a tradition of drinking from the same glass and doing shots to establish long lived business relationships... So i was number 3 to do this and i had to punk out and put tea in my shot glass.. OHH the looks that i got ... So then there are at least 3 comments made about pregnancy. The first being when one of the Koreans asked me how old i was and then added a year because most asian cultures start your age when you are in the womb.. But his english was bad and it sounded like he kept calling me pregnant.. Then when i did the shot with Tea a collegue (the evil PM) says .. she's pregnant.. Just joking .. but at this point the one guy that knew looked at me and we decided i needed to come clean .. SO i stood up .. glass in hand and started my toast.. ... I basically told them all i could drink them under the table any timne .. except right now i was drinking for two and baby doesn't like rice wine ... :) I then swore to kill any of my collegues that said anything back home until i came out ... ANYWAY ... i am so glad i did this... The rest of the night and next day the men have all been so nice to me... WHen they went on a beer run they brought back juice and water for me and at lunch when half the food was fermented and raw (which i can't eat now) they ordered cooked meat for me... Such a relief....
The most touching part, one of the Koreans brought me a baby present the next day and i officially got my first baby outfit... I was so touched and brought tears to my eyes.
Anyway .. traveling pregnant in Korea is a bit of a pain .. i didn't realize how much was fermented and raw. I guess i just ate whatever they brought to me. Now i am careful and have to pass on most of the dishes... my saving grace has been room service spaghetti .. YUMMY .. ohh and all the food i packed too..
SLeeping has been tough this trip .. Typically i stay up till at least 11 to get on schedule. Now i am sooo tired i crash at 830 and then get up anywhere between 1am and 4 .. today i slept late .. till 530 ..
Well thats all for now.. Monday is week 10. Starting to round the corner...
