Ava is here

Well Ava has been here for 5 weeks and 6 days but i am just catching up on blogging .. so here is the Ava is here blog .. For those that haven't heard the story here it is ..

March 31st :  I started the day working from home and making my "to do" list for the weeks ahead.  I was 38 weeks so i was excited for the 1100 appointment ahead of me.  I had no clue just how exciting the appointment would be.  After the exam my doctor said i was 2-3cm dilated but my bloodpressure was up a bit and i had a slight headache.  What this all ment was that she was sending me to the hospital to have a baby .. WHAT !! I cried .. and then pulled myself together .. I asked if i could go later because i had the fridge repair man coming .. she said NO !! .. so i called JIm and headed home ..
After our friend Rob arrived to meet the repair man jim and i loaded the car with our bags and we headed to the hospital.. After some confusion of Triage vs. checking in . .. we finaly checked in and got in a delivery room.
I was in great mood. Laughing and joking with the nurses and doctors. No pain, just happiness...
5:00 pm: the doctor broke my water ... or did he ..  then they started the Petocin to accelerate labor..

10:10 pm: Now the 2nd doctor really broke my water... now the fun begins .. labor pains start and it starts to hit me that baby is on her way
1:00 am: At this point i am 5-6 cm dilated and the contractions are hitting hard now.. I have given in and now i am asking for the epidural.  This was a good experience. The tech was funny and it did't hurt at all .. the IV earlier in the day hurt worse..  soon i would not feel anything below my waste .. AWESOME
3:00 - 7:00 am: baby Ava was moving so much they could not get a good monitor on her. So they put an internal monitor.  Once they did this they saw that her heart rate dropped every time a contraction hit. This was worrying everyone and caused me not to sleep at all .. Jim on the other hand.. slept like a baby .. I just kept enjoying lollipops and popsicles.. yummy
9:30 am:  Next doctor is now on shift and has briefed me on the chance of a C-section becuase of the stress on the baby
10:00 am: Signed the papers for a C-section
10:20 am: Doctor has decided to try one last shot to stretch me out to 10 cm since i am not dilating.. So i push and she stretches.. apparemently i pushed so good that Ava's head starts to poke out .. and then the room transforms... bed changes, lights go on .. mirror comes out  and a team of people are in the room... AMAZING ...
10:39 am: Baby Ava arrives .. .. mom counts toes and fingers and then daddy watches them clean her up .. and life will never be the same
